A Grand Gathering to Preserve Koch Culture

A historic annual gathering was organised in Alipurduar to preserve and promote the Koch language, literature, culture, and traditional identity. The event witnessed the participation of nearly 15,000 people from different districts of North Bengal and featured folk dance, music, cultural performances, discussions, and awareness around the rights and heritage of the Koch community. Scholars, researchers, educators, and community leaders emphasised the need for official recognition, research, education, and continued social participation to protect the rich legacy of the Koch people for future generations.
